The Zone is a program that will provide much-needed services in the tri-county service area. The program will provide literacy training, cultural enrichment, fine arts opportunities, nutrition information, life-long learning skill training, and self-help opportunities for under-resourced and equity-deserving children 1st through 12th grades in the service area. The program services over 100 students per year.  The program is currently housed at the local public library on weekends and during school breaks throughout the year.  The Zone program is free of charge. There is no sliding fee scale applied because all the participants are and will be from low-income and disadvantaged families. It provides free, on demand tutorial services throughout the summer and school year for these students. The students participating in the program are referred by local schools, social services, and individuals who mentor and tutor. Participant’s families must provide proof of income and proof of permanent residence (utility bill, driver’s license/learner’s permit, or residential lease or property deed) for their child to participate in the program.
